With my old H/C/I set-up of GT40/Explorer intake, milled & mildly worked GT40P heads with a Ford "Z" Cam I was shifting at 6800 rpm. You should see around 6300-6500 rpm with that set-up, not much more because of the rpm range of the cam. A set of slicks will put you well into the 12's though. I used to go 12.5's with my 92lx all day long on 26x9" slicks and 288rwhp.
this is probably a dumb question but where you putting 288 to to flywheel or to the ground?

What do you guys think I will be shifting at?
dont assume where you should shift it at. Run it on the dyno, and see where your power curve peaks... you shift there.

waiting any longer will slow you down

If you use a pretty steep gear (somewhere around 4.10-4.30) your car will still pull, even after your peak rpm. My car makes peak power at 6900rpm but it still pulls hard right before I shift at 7500.

If youv'e even seen the power curves of an NMRA pure street car they peak at around 7000rpm, but they shift there cars at close to 9000. This has to do with the small 26" tire and 4.56-4.88 gears.

Flyinghigh: I'm build the same exact set up as you this winter except I am going with the Trickflow stage one cam and I already have my Tubular gt-40 intake. I will be curious to see the power differences we put down with just the difference in cam.not to hack the thread... but might i see a 12.9 on motor with tfs stg 1 cam, ported gt40 heads, tubular gt40 intake, 70mm tb, 75 mm maf, 24# injectors, 3.73 gears, and some bfg d/r?what about with my 100 shot?Adder: have not seen you in awhile, nice to see you back
