Okay guys,


Well after askin some q's about moddin the Aod in the fox i'm probly getting, and bein told about aods, it seems a tranny swap could be in order. I'm not positive yet, just thats what seems like it could help. I'm not sure yet since i'm mearly makin it a daily driver with just a little more kick. So i'll do the cold air intake, and maybe a throttle body, then i'll do a more open exhaust and all, some 4.10's out back and thats roughly it. Then I was gonna get a B&M Transpak shift kit and a Hurst V-matic 2 shifter for the AOD in there but I heard some bad stuff about the AOD in there, so IDK. It was one guy tellin me about the trans and I trust his judgement but I just want some other opinions on it, with the small amount of things I was gonna do should I worry about a trans swap? Keep in mind ima use this car as a daily driver and probly only take it down the track once.



Now if I feel I should swap the tranny I had 2 in mind. My friend told me I should look into c4's so it'll either be a C4 that I swap in or a T-5. From what i've read, neither of these swaps would be super easy, but I kinda wanna go with the one thats gonna be cheaper, easier and more effective in the end. I can drive a 5spd, thats no problem. But yeah,would it even make sense to throw a C4 3spd on a nearly stock 5.0 motor? lol if anyone couldn't tell i'm just a bit lost so if someone could chime in and help me out, i'de be etternally grateful. In terms of funds and what I have to spend, i'm 16 and payin for all the mods myself. I'm getting a job over the summer that should allow me to pull in at most about $4500 over the 2 month summer. However I wanna save some of it so I don't have a massive amount to spend.

more efficient would be the t5

stronger would be the c4

both would make the car quicker, since they are both geared better

c4 you lose od....so it's like driving in 3rd all the time

neither should cost more than $2000 even using a new trans, neither are really that hard

hardest part about a t5 swap is the clutch pedal, but you can all the parts used for cheap, stay away from a used trans though

It's remanufactured so it's not quite new but not quite used. Does it seem like a good buy? I'de wrather go with the C4. When I get outa school ima do alot more to this car and that was the trans I was gonna get anyway so it's all good. lol I'm cool with the 3 gears dilema. But with a 3spd trans should I still go with the 4.10's? I know with a 3spd i'm not gonna have much top speed to speak of anyway. lol And if I go with the C4 are there any major known dilemas I could run into since i'm puttin it on an EFI motor?

Wow, just read some stories about people with daily drivers with C4's and they all hated it. Most of em were converting there C4 cars to beefed up AOD's. I think I may end up stickin with the AOD and just upgrading it a bit. Either that or i'de do the C4 with gears much smaller then 4.10's. Or i'll just do a t-5 swap! lol

Aight, the more I read bout trans swaps, the more I feel I don't wanna do one. lol So if I kept the aod, did the shift kit, the shifter, and the manual valve body, and ran that trans on the nearly stock motor with the 4.10's, would I have to worry about it blowin up?

Bump. Sorry to be so annoying, but I need to know. If I do ^^said mods to AOD will it more or less hold up? Cause if it'll hold up for a little bit and it ends up blowin up i'll either do a tranny swap then or i'll just rebuild it to TCI Streetfighter spec.

just wondering but have you ever done a t-5 tranny swap to a built AOD? just curious because i am wanting to build a stronger tranny for my stang that will hold up better at the track....
