Default Did I screw up MAF?

I just bought this car a little over a week ago. I've been slowly going over everything to find out what I've really got. The car was running good before I worked on it theis weekend. I replaced the electric water pump on the intercooler and decided to clean the K&N filter. Since the car is supercharged, the MAF/filter is in the fender well. It was a pain to get out. I cleaned the filter like I always clean my other K&N's...let it dry 24 hrs, then oil, let dry out in sun ~3 hrs. The MAF is a Pro Flow 77mm...looked clean, was careful to cover it on the workbench overnight. During the process of getting everything back in the fender and hooked up, I know it got bumped pretty good, not sure if that could hurt it. When I started the car it was putting out a ton of smoke that would burn your eyes, and stumbling, popping, finally died.

I'm thinking it has to be the MAF, since I didn't mess with anything else. Does it hurt to plug/unplug the meter? Any reset procedure? I did have the ignition turned on a few times with it unplugged to check the electric water pump operation.

Any help? I've been away from Mustangs for awhile, guess I better jump back in with a problem to start.

pull the MAF out, spray some maf cleaner through it, and try again without the filter installed.... you might have gotten some K&N oil on it

Thanks, I'll try that first thing in the morning. Only other thing I can think of is a stuck injector. Any idea on the best way to test?

I've replaced two ECM's on 2 differnt Fords this year for a bad injector driver. It will go wide open and dump fuel down into the cylinder. You would need a noid light to see if this is true. The injector plug should give you a pulse when running. The ones that I found had the noid light lit up like a headlight.
It should idle somewhat with the MAF unplugged to see if the black smoke goes away. They usually default to lean when bad though. It's not installed backwards is it?
