Default NEED HELP! 302 T5 transmission

ok, heres the deal.
i got a used tranny for my 87' mustang gt and it came out of a foxbody just like mine, but its not from the 86 - 93 model. its claimed to be from a 94' and there are spacers between the bellhousing to the transmission. there really just thick washers. three washers on each of the four bolts. the washers open a gap to about 3/4" - 4/4" between my bellhousing and tranny. ill assume that was done because the 94' and 87' are different models, so i guess there must have been issues with the shaft not going in enough. i dont know, im an import guy. i dont know the mustang as good as my AWD eclipse. so i need input/help. why do you think the spacers are needed? also, are the bellhousing designs different on the 94' and 87'. so would i have to change it?...by the way the tranny's 3rd gear is blown and im going to get it rebuilt. dose this have anything to do with the spacers mabey? any advice on what to say to the rebuild shop? i would really like any helpful feedback on this from the experienced mustang guys out there.
thank you in advance,
Gabe-

The 94-95 Mustang T5 has a longer input shaft (17mm longer)that a Fox body T5. You will need to buy an input shaft for a Fox body to make it bolt correctly to the bellhousing, which is a must for proper drivetrain alignment. The front bearing retainer is fitted to the bellhousing to keep everthing in line. Being 3/4" out it's not able to do it's job, I don't know if that is what caused 3rd to go but I am sure it didn't help any.

lol lol!!!![:@]..that's the first time I've heard someone doing that with a 94-95 sn'95 tranny to work on a fox!!! man what tool did that swap.....anyway since third is gone..have it rebuilt and all you have to swap is the input shaft to allow it to work with a fox bellhousing....but if you have to pay someone to do all this...then it'd be cheaper to buy a new one or good used unit or even a reman unit..I've seen reman units for a little under 700.00 before

first off thanks to all who replied. well the tranny is in the shop right now getting fixed. so i guess i should tell the macanic to put a fox's input shaft in while he's repairing 3rd huh?...and to mjr46,i rather keep this one then buying another remanufacured onebecause the one i got now was free.
