Default 88 Motor in 94GT

Can you use an older motor in a newer car and use the newer wiring harness and computer? For example say I have the 5.0L out of a 88 and I need a new motor for my 94. Can I put the older motor in the new car and use the newer computer and harness? Would it work to put a newer motor in an older car? Like an 99 explorer 5.0 in a 94 mustang? And would the older wiring harness and computer work for the 99 explorer motor?

Yes you can do any of those, not quite sure why you would want a explorer computer in a mustang.....taking a older motor and putting it in a 94 95 with the same wiring harness of the 88 is a good idea cause the fox wiring harness and cpu are more easily tuned then the 94 95 gt at least thats what ive heard

I dont want to put the explorer computer in a mustang. I was wondering if I could put the explorer motor in a mustang and use the mustang computer and wiring harness.

yes you can use the long blocks but remember the later explore = 99 will have gt 40p heads and will need special headers......but you can use the long blocks in either application fine

And they will work ok with the computer and wiring harness out of the 94 GT? I'm sorry I keep asking but I really want to make sure that I have this right. The special headers for the GT40's isnt a big deal. Thanks yall.

The front accessory drive and such is different. You will need to use the waterpump and such from the 94 cause it is shorter, but yes, the longblock will bolt right in.

Hey bud, yeh that long block will work fine....you need to literally switch everything like the harmonic pully and all...but its really not worth IMO to drop this motor in if nothing is wrong with your current motor....might be worth taking this GT40 motor and doing a little work to the heads and maybe freshen up the block while its outa the car....then swap it in but to just take the motor as is and drop it in might only get u a few more HP may not be worth the headache.....ya know?
