Default shifting problem, tranny?

hey all so i have a 1990 lx manuel and sometimes it gets stuck inbetween gears. when i put it to reverse and i want to go back to first, it gets stuck. I have to use all my force to get it to first and last night it finally got real stuck. I turned off the car and turned it back on and it went back into gear smoothly. Also sometimes when i put it in reverse..it acts like im in first for some reason. Has anyone had this problem. I know, a little confusing. Sorry..

I know about the not going into first problem. It happens on mine every once in a while. Usually (at least in my case) if I put it into another gear like 2nd or 3rd it helps align the syncrose I believe, and it go's in smoothly. Reverse acts up on mine a little bit, grinds unless I put it into 2nd before reverse. I put some royal purple syncromax in it and havent had A problem with getting stuck, but notice that it grinds when puting it back in first.. but very rarely. My trannys the whole reason im not spending the money I have on go fast parts because I have this feeling its going to go out the second I do and I wont have money to replace it.
