No... flat tappet heads/cam will not work on a roller block. Why don't you buy a kit for the roller block, there are a ton of them out there. Edelbrock makes one, Trick Flow makes one, Holley makes one, Ford Racing makes one, etc.....

Cylinder heads don't know what type cam is operating the valves.
You can use any type cam with the heads but flat tappet cams have to be in flat tappet blocks.........

Spring pressures are different between tappets and rollers.

Edit: Forgot to add: Different cam profiles require different springs. The cylinder head does know/care what type of cam, valve float at lower rpm's.

Use a roller cam if it's a roller block. There should be an id number on the block facing towards the radiator near one of the bellhousing bolt bosses iirc. E7 = 87, F1 = 91 etc. Like mine is F1SE which is a 91 block designated for a Thunderbird Coupe. That's how you can be certain without tearing the manifold off. And yes, roller cams may require different springs, the same performance range roller cam has a more agressive ramp rate than a flat tappet, so the valve inertia is higher, you'd need stiffer springs. And be careful with heads, early/late model head switcharoos require you to pay attention to coolant passage holes, I think there are a few that don't line up.
