What to do with steering...
My power steering pump is leaking fluid from a couple of places. It drips down the front of the pump, and it is also leaking around the smaller hose at the back of the pump. With the belt off, the pulley is extremely hard to move (don't know if that's normal or not), and when i turn the wheel too far to the left it makes a really nasty noise (def. not just wheel rub). So what is involved with removing and replacing the pump? I know you need a pulley puller, but how do you bleed the lines and everything? Or...would it be better to just spend that money on a manual rack from flaming river and free up some space in the engine bay. It is a daily driver with 245 tires up front. Thanks for any input.

to bleed the rack just dump the lines in to a pan and turn the steering lock to lock about 20 times until no fluid comes out then when new parts are installed flush it all with fresh fluid...removing pump is easy......

manual rack all the way
the big misconception of a manual rack is that it feels like a powersteering car w/ no fluid....thats absolutely not true
there is not much diff for a guy at all, my 105 lb wife not be comfy driving it...but she doesn't anyways.
** cheap fix ** dump the pump, run the the 2 lines on the power rack into each other with it as full as possible , and you'll have a makeshift manual rack.
my buddy did it, and it actually works pretty good. plus..the rack is still good if you decide you wanna keep it power.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, i've been tossing around the idea of going manual, but i don't want to be pissed at myself for ditching the power steering. You know what they say, you never know what you have till it's gone. It's dd/back and forth to school car, and it doesn't have skinnies which is what most people with manual steering have. More input would be great.
