Default 8.8 Axles in a 7.5

Will 8.8 axles work in a 7.5 rear end? Just curious about doing a 5 lug swap but I have a 7.5 out back right now and I don't feel like buying another rearend.

Yes they are the same as long as they are 28 spline. The SVO's where 7.5 5-lug the Rangers that donate the drum brake 5 lugs are 7.5's.

Yep left side 7.5" Ranger axles fit the 8.8 Mustang axle on both sides, so I'm sure your 5 lug 8.8 axles will work as long as they are from a Fox Mustang. SN95 axles are longer then a Fox.

Ok, I thought so. Yea I knew about the left ranger axles and what not. I wanted to just double check. I've been thinking of when and how I am gonna do my swap. I can get a rear end out of a 97 GT with 3.73's from the junkyard for $300 with them taking it out but until then I thought about just taking the spindles for now and just running 2 5 lugs and 2 4 lugs until I can get the rest. Yes I know it will push out my wheelsa little. But I guess I should also locate a set of wheels to put on first huh lol.

i wouldnt worry about the wider track width i have the sn95 axles in my car and im positive i could still fit a 9 in wheel under it, im running 01 cobras now

I plan on having 10.5 inch wide wheels out back at some point. I'm not worried about the extra width, I'm just not to hip on the tires sticking out of the wells in the front or back. Yes, I know the 10.5's will stick out but I have some customizing I am gonna do with the body. I was mainly asking the question about the axles because Latemodel Restoration sells a 5 lug kit for under $400 and kits with wheel and tire packages.
