spout connector
Ok so i was going to bumb my timing today and i did what the tech artical said to do. I unplugged the spout connector and when i went to start my car it start on the first try. Normaly it doesn't it takes at least two turn overs maybe more to start. ANd i don't know why. But when i unplugged the spout connector it started very nicely. Could this be my problem? could i have a bad spout connector. And what do they do i have no clue.

RE: spout connector
first check the base timing and if it's off......set it to 10 degrees btdc and reinstall spout..if you still have a prob with starting your car run a koeo/koer test and se if the ecm detects any probs or has any codes stored

I'm not quite convinced that a spout connector can go bad? All it does is connect those 2 wires. You can cut a little jumper wire and jam it into that connector to bridge the 2 wires and it accomplishes the same thing.

RE: spout connector
If the engine runs differently with the plug in and out, then the plug is good. As a previous poster mentioned, all it does it make a connection. Taking it out removes the ECM from the circuit so you can set base timing. With it in the ECM comes into play with timing among other things. If your car runs bad with the plug in, then you have a problem but it's not the plug.
No, you won't find a new spout plug at Summit. That's going to be a dealer part. I've been fooling with Fox Mustangs since '87 and never seen a bad spout plug.
