Default plug wire question

one of my msd spark plug wires boot was resting on the header and now the boot is cracked and hard, kinda crusty(not all the way through, just on the outside)

also, one of the other wires boots was a little bent and it doesnt look like the spark plug could get to the end where it touches that pin, but it would be resting on the metal on the inside (if that makes sense)

my engine was misfiring so im in the process of taking out all the spark plugs and checking them, but i wanted to see if i need to replace those wires

ill go take some pics if you need em, but any help would be appreciated

Also I suggest spark plug wire seperators, to increase the life of the wires, by keeping them stable.

A good set will last years.

i got to 45 degree angles boots, but i still had one boot that would rest on the header, so what i did was use on of those super heat resistent spark plu boot covers, is this ok because no matter how i angle the boot it touches the header

if you have aftermarket headers....then that may be the cause......my 66 stang had a prob with that due to the expensive hooker super comp headers it has and tight clearance...but no worry......taylor makes a set of wires with compact ends that'll work just fine where clearance is an issue
