Mythbusters is awesome, they'd probably do it too. I want an aluminum driveshaft more for strength than weight savings, when I took my tranny out i was pretty surprsied how light the stock driveshaft actually was. It is nasty rusty though...
And if it didn't work out, they'd blow it up like every other thing they don't like the result of

It's not worth the money at this point. Buy something useful

Not only is it lighter, but it is way stronger. I haven't seen anyone break their aluminum shaft at the strip. I have one, and I love it. Definitely a better piece than stock. If you have upgraded your axles so they don't break, this is the next weakest link.

Well I just put mine in and the gains are vauge at best. There is a nice difference in weight difference between stock and aluminum. My aluminum driveshaft I felt like I could swing the thing like a bat, the stock drive shaft, well, not so much, it had some weight to it. The car revs a little quicker, don't know about power gains though, I'd like to put the car on the dyno again to see if I gained any power with it just to test the theory, but with new tranny freaking out, I probably won't.
You wont be able to feel it rev quicker, If you want a quicker rev put an aluminum flywheel in your car. 24 pounds for stockvs. 12 pounds alum., I would put the alum. flywheel in before the alum. driveshaft. Thats just me though!

It's also easier to balance a shaft that is 10lbs and made from aluminum.
Trying to get 25lbs of steel to rotate smoothly at 7000rpm is a bigger feat.
