Those are all state laws and vary widely from one to another. Here in Williamson County, Tn, cars are emission inspected back to 1978. Motorcycles and vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds are exempt. Inspections are done at a county inspection station run by contractors. All inspections are video taped so there is no "buying" of a pass on your test. Also, your check engine light being on is an automatic flunk.

allow me to reflect my experience. i was an idiot when i bought my stang id didnt make they guy e test it before he sold it to me. i brought it to the e test place and they called me back saying i performed 3 times over all the limits. i checkled the oil and it was black, car sat around for a good 4 years. so i changed the oil, added a bottle of guarenteed to pass, a 5L jug of methenol alcohol and 20 sum oddL of gas. i brought it back to have e test i got almost 0 emmisions in every category ZERO give that a shot but u have to have cats on because there might be a visual inspection

I believe they do visual and sniffer. The first two times I had it inspected I was working outside of HARRIS county, one place did a visual, no cats no pass. A guy turned me on to a Tranny shop, this dude raced his 93 and in turn, turned me onto his friend who gave me a sticker based on visual. I'm trying these guys but that was like 4 years ago, and I'll drive to Beaumont, TX if it's still "available". The last 2 years, well I bought a sticker, so I really don't know what they will do (inspector) to pass. MOTERHEAD, I do have a press reg and gauge on the fuel lines, when I get some cats I'll try that, and, no, no smogger. I am looking for a "friendly" place to take it to, but these guys can get in big trouble for "helping" me and I doubt they will stick there neck for someone they don't know. I already turned my timing to 10*.

WHAT DOES OBDI STAND FOR?????

GONNA SEARCH EMMISSIONS AND SEE WHATI CAN FIND OUT FOR THE CITY OF HOUSTON.

THANKS FOR ALL ADVISE!!!!!!!!!

Do a search on this forum for a thread titled OBD1 or OBD2 and you will get a great lesson on it.

I used a bottle of e-check pass. It worked great without any cats.

Best to Gut Cats, not eliminate them if they use a mirror to look for them.
