I own an 89 mustang 5.0. I went to get in my car like always, I unarmed it got in, and put the key in the ignition, and all I heardwas a click and there was no more power. All my lights went off on my dash and dome light even. I thought it was the battery again, so I went to jump it, the power came back on, so I put the key back in and turn it and the same thing happened. Now, even without jumping it, the power comes back on after about 20 minutes, but once I try to start the car, I just get a click and the the power cuts back out.can someone please help me out with any ideas of what the problem might be? thanx

sounds like a bad charging system and a weak battery, id go get your alternator check out as well as getting a new battery

Leave the cable hooked up for a while. Cheap cables have too much resistance andare not very good. Look into some jumper cables made out of welding leads or something like a 4 guage wire. The one's i have made with welding leads are great.

Also try cleaning your terminals with baking soda + water

sounds like you might need a good core charge on your battery. keep the jumper cables hooked up for a little while and let your car run.

Def sounds like a connection problem. Check ALL of them.

Hey boss, thanks for the help, you were right on it. It turned out to be the negative battery cable.
