if it wereme id start pulling the top end apart with the motor still in, seems how your rebuilding it anyway, that way you can get the majority of the wiring out of your way, hell you can even pull the heads off while its in, after you do all that, everything that needs to be unhooked should be in plain sight, now with hookin up the chains i dunno, mine has hooks already on it that bolt on with the headers, but usually i try and go corner to corner so its balanced out, but thats just me and im sure alot of people would do it differently

If your wanting to pull the motor out without the transmission.
1. Take out driveshaft
2. Unbolt bell housing from motor.
3. Unbolt crossmember
4. Slide transmission back.
5. unbolt all the sh*t that connects your motor to your car (gas lines, wiring, etc.)
6. Unbolt headers
7. Unbolt motor mounts
8. unbolt intake upper and lower
9. bolt chains to back of one head and front of the other
10. Put cherry picker on chain and lift out.
not happening and not worth it.... do it right the first time.. sometimes working within ur budget is a bad idea, and to stock up on bills is a better idea
you can leave the Bellhousing, lower intake manifold, and slide the guy out....

Yea especially if your wanting to get it bored which if you dont your looking at about5 to 10,000 miles before your be rebuilding it again
wtf kinda drugs are you doin?
anyway, for new rings youll want to HONE it... with a ball hone, just so the rings seat and all that fun ****
and wtf guys... its easy as **** to take the motor out w. out the trans, i do it...
do everything u would to pull the motor, put a jack under the trans, unbolt it from the motor, pick it up some w. the jack... pull the motor up... and forward once the mounts are outa the frame... itll come out just fine
and i lift by either header bolt holes, or, if the heads are off i screw in one of the old head bolts at each corner and lift by them

why not just remove the trans too??? it's not much extra work......besides what's easier?? ever tried to put a motor in and line the heavy motor up to the tranny... I like to just drop the motor down on the mounts then put the tranny in from the bottom= no hassle to me
