Transmission not responding

Transmission not responding
I just recently bought a 90 5.0 GT automatic with 150k mi on it. Its had the transmission replaced in the past and it runs great.
I went out for a cruise for the first time the other night and hit maybe 120mph before I decided to take it easy. After I slowed to a stop to turn around and started to accelerate again, I noticed the acceleration was messy and ill responding. I also noticed that the oil guage was reading pretty high.
I almost always drive in OD gear, but I will switch to first manually for quick acceleration if im in the mood.
Usually it will accelerate normally in first gear. It doesnt like to shift to second gear though.
If it does shift to second gear, which happens if I put a lot of gas into first gear most of the time, then when I slow to a stop, I can hear a deep whirring noise under the hood. Then it idles at about 500 rpms, which is about 300 rpms lower than usual.
I have also had the transmission disengage after I hit 40 mph. The amount of gas doesnt change the rpms. This doesnt happen unless the temperature is relatively high.
When accelerating from a stop, sometimes the transmission will not engage at all, but it will rev up really rough. If I give it enough gas, the transmission will engage (usually right to 2nd gear) and it will accelerate at a rather slow rate. I can correct this problem by manually shifting to first and slowly giving some gas. If I shift to first and gun it right away, then the tranny wont engage until the rpms get up a little higher.
This is the most confusing thing I've ever had happen in my life. Help anyone?

RE: Transmission not responding
check fluid level and run a koeo/koer test.....you have an aode = automatic overdrive electronic......so you may be able to pull a code if it has detected a problem

I think its something internal... and from the sounds of it..... going from D to 1st.... what were u thinking? not worth it...
It's def something internal, bc I had this same problem, and I switched it to a T5

RE: Transmission not responding
oil and transmission fluid levels are solid. I'm not sure how to run a code test, but I'll look in the manual.
Im used to driving imports []so I suppose I was not aware that the shifting to 1 would mess it up much.
Am I looking at a new transmission? If so, how well or how long will I be able to survive using the transmission as is?

RE: Transmission not responding
just don't blow up ur motor....... my AOD stopped shifting, whether in D or OD, and if I got enough speed down a hill I'd go from 1st to 3rd and I'd be able to drive again....stupid stuff like that.....when it goes, you'll know....
