i'm back! and have a question
So i've been gone for a while..like a long while
and my car is dying a lot
I come to a stop and have to worry about it dying everytime
I upgraded to a 130amp alt. and still have the same problem
when i come to an idle my car's battery lowers..why?
(i have underdrive pulleys)
i thought that may be the problem
but i thought the 130amp would fix it
am i wrong?
maybe new battery?

RE: i'm back! and have a question
Get the car started. With it running, remove the negative battery connection. If it dies, the sytem is not charging. This could be either the alternator or the voltage regulator.
Another way to check is to hook the voltmeter across the battery poles. When you rev the engine the volts should rise to about 14.5 and then fall again when it comes back down to idle. If they rise, that means the system is charging.

RE: i'm back! and have a question
well it charges because when i rev up the engine the battery charge goes up
when i first installed the new alternator (4 months ago) at idle the charge was 14.2-4
with the voltmeter and would rise a little when revved
assuming the alternator is good (which it better be) what else could it be?

RE: i'm back! and have a question
take the underdrive pullies off.....the slow down the speed of the alt whose charging rate is dependant upon engine rpm.......upgrading the alt won't solve prob...removing pullies will

RE: i'm back! and have a question
Underdrive pullies IMO...really don't free up all that much horsepower.. the cause more probs than solve.....I just run an elec water pump and stock pullies and no charging issues ever

RE: i'm back! and have a question
I have a hard time believing that the u/d's are giving him that much trouble, especially some time after the install. I've never had a problem with mine through a 3g. An electric fan would be nice

RE: i'm back! and have a question
well the electric fan is coming regardless
even if i have to hold the idle up a little at a stop haha
but that's what i thought, that it wouldn't give that much trouble
