I'm looking at a 88' 5.0 GT Mustang and the guy wants $1200 for it(of course its goin to need work). He said the only problems with it is that it needs the heater core replaced which he has a new one, the rear main seal is leaking (which I would have my brother fix, he said you have to drop the tranny out to fix it), and the thing that concerns me is that he said it will run for a bit but you cant even put it in gear and take off because it will die. He said its not idling right and he thinks that its either a IAC or a vaccume leak but he is not sure. I'm going to look at it better this weekend and listen to it run, it has a 135,000 miles on it. What should i be looking for and any suggestions on what the problem is. Any input would help, thanks!

man heater core sucks!! gotta take the whole dash out[:'(]..as for the idle issue..could be a lot of things... try cleaning IAC ,and look for vaccum leaks too
