Default stupid question but im a newbie

i have a 90 lx and i was wondering where the stock ignition box is. i was only wondering because i figured if i do an ignition upgrade then i would have to know where that is to take it out. also how hard is an ignition upgrade is it mostly plug in or is it complicated.
