the rear main seal is leaking on my 90 lx and i was told you have to pull the motor to replace the oil pan gasket so i was wondering if you have to pull the motor to replace the rear main seal as well or if you can do it in the car by pullin the tranny back thanks in advance

The motor can be raised high enough to replace the oil pan gasket,os on you don't need too pull the motor to replace the oil pan gasket.

Rear main== Remove the driveshaft, exhaust, transmission, bell housing, pressure plate and clutch, and then replace the rear main. Again no reason to pull the motor to put in a rear main.

drop the tranny...its way easier than pullin the motor..just drop tranny, remove clutch, flywheel, n pull the old one out...tap new one in evenly

figures haha i just puta new tranny in last summer i shoulda replaced it then.

should always replace the rear main when the tranny is out.
