RE: duel tank with F150 gas tank swich, just a thought
I was looking through my manuals and according to that, I am sort of wrong about my truck. According to Haynes, there was 4 different types of swtiching mechanisms throughout the years from '80-'96.
- The early carbed versions used a solenoid to actuatethe valve
- The later carbs w/ fuel return lines used an elecrical rotary switch
- The early EFIs ('87-'89, like mine) were purely mecahnical and the switch in the cab actually selected which in-tank pump was running, which changed pressure to one side of the valve to accomplish the switch
- Later EFIs ('90-on) used a fuel delivery module in each tank and a shuttle selector valve to control which FDM was energized.
So I was wrong about my truck being electrical, but the other 3 versions are electrical and I see no mention of vacuum-actuated swtiches. I have no idea about '79 or earlier models though.
