Flywheel help!!
Does anyone know any vehicles that use a 157 tooth flexplate (automatic) for a c4 that is 28 oz? I have a c4 from a comet that was a v6 and it has the small bellhousing and from what I have been seeing all v8's use the larger bellhousing which is a 164 tooth flywheel. I know I can't use a 164 tooth fly with a small bell because it won't clear. I also know I can get one from summit for exactly what I need but I don't exact have the money I need for one of those. I am gonna compare the bells and converter sizes to see if I can make the c5 bell that is a little bit deeper work. Any ideas other then get one from summit???

yea the mustang II used this rare bellhousing!! but it's gonna be tough to find.. anyone I have found every nerb want a pretty penny to the point where after shipping it's no cheaper than the performance one from Jegs... I need one to convert my c-5 in my bronco II to accept the 302 I WILL swap in soon

RE: Flywheel help!!
Yea I was having all kinds of problems finding a 28 oz 164 tooth for the c5 when I was putting my combo I have now together. I don't remember what vehicle I finanally got it out of but everything worked just find except for the drain plug hole. I just ground down the drain plug and put it all together. Since they only used the c5 for like 2 years and it was usually only on v6's it is hard to find things for them. I think my c5 has a pump problem so I am swaping it for the c4 I just picked up.
Does you Bronco II have a 28 or 50 oz balance? I do think you can use a c4 flywheel for the c5 except for maybe that drain hole plug. The only reason the bell is deeper on the c5 than the large c4 is because the converter is a lock-up type so it is a little bit thicker. There is 3/4 of an inch differance in the bell housing depth. I am gonna compare the input shaft lengths and all that when I get my c5 out of the car.
On another note, I know you have been reading about me and timing problems with my 83. I took off the timing cover to double check the timing marks and found out that when the marks are lined up I am about 2 teeth before plug 1 on the dizzy so I am thinking that my balancer has spun a little because I have stabbed the damn thing multiple times to get the same thing. I am gonna get to put it back together sometime this weekend to fire it up and see what happens.
