Default whats causing my stang to catch the grass on fire?

i've had my exhaust pipes off for awhile..so its just the stock headers and they're pointing downwards but they're not even close to the grass.

the last 3 times i started it up to work on it.. in less than a minute, it catches the grass on fire. its never did that before.

i did recently put a a bottle of some "stop leak" type of stuff in it to try to fix a head gasket or whatever it causing white smoke.. and after letting it run for 10 minutes..the grass caught on fire underneath it. and now even when its running for less than a minute. the grass catches on fire. is it because of the bottle of stop leak i put it in it?or is it just the the exhaust fumes being so hot that its burning the grass? or its probably the obvious..the headers pointing to the grass.

i dont have any concrete to park the car on. only grass. i'm gonna jack it up on blocks and soak the grass down

open headers i would assume the grass is catchin fire directly under the headers. dont work on ur car over grass? headers get hot enough to glow red and last i checked grass isnt nearly as heat resistant as iron.

if u are runnin too rich maybe ur sprayin the grass with unburnt fuel and when it heats up enough it catches fire.

maybe you should stop starting your motor with open headers... before you break something

Someday I will figure out why people keep saying this!!! Unless I have luck with every single one of my cars, they are all ran open header for one time or another and ran down the road open header to test platforms and I have YET to break any valves or anything.

Running without any manifolds or headers will obtain breaking pieces though.

how'd u know i had a trailor?

the part about it spraying gas sounds like the reason.

i have open headers cuz i'm gonna put a weld straight pipes where the cats used to be.
when i had the whole exhaust on still.. it blew black smoke. once i took them off it blows white smoke.

i'm gonna work on it some today. i'll let u know what happens

You're running your car with open headers on grass and wondering why it's catching fire? There's a reason you paint headers with 1300+ degree paint...
