Default Whats the difference?

So I picked up a used tranny(T5-Came from early 90 or 91)for my car(It is a 93), and just got around to pulling the old one out and putting the used one in. I seem to of hit a snag, there is a plug that goes into the top cover on the one that is in the car, and the one I was going to put in doesn't have even a place for it to go.

What is this plug? To me it almost looks like a temp sensor or something.

Do I need it?

I don't use those on my older ones but I thought it had something to do with the cruise control operation...you could always swap covers I believe..but don't quote me on the plug thing..just something I remembered

Could it be the neutral switch? From some reading I think it could be but not sure...

Screw that cover. When I bought it the idiot had the bolts off and the cover was jammed. Took it to the tranny shop and it took the guy 1 1/2 hours to get it off cause he ended having to pull the tail off and everything.

I got the old one out and noticed that plug and wanted to make sure I could bypass it before I went ahead installing the new/used one.

I think it for telling the computer you are in 5th gear which retards the timing.

You are going to miss your synchronized reverse.
