The biggest wieght savings probably comes from going to aluminum heads and if you can afford it an aluminum block. Lighter battery. GOING CARBlol. And start out with a early 4 eyed stang they are the lightest! The earlier the lighter lol.

a huge weight saving (if its a hatchback) is putting on a fiberglass hatch with lexan window, and either ditching the stock wing or put an aluminum drag wing on there. the difference is absolutely amazing. id be suprised if mine weighted much more than 20lbs all together. i can easily lift it on and off, but the stock hatch i can barely even lift a few inches off the ground, let alone put it back on lol.

foxbodies range a little i've never weighedlx hatch/old style GTbut i'm sure it's safe to say it weighs maybe 100 lbs more than a notch

my current notch has power everything, smog delete, sway bars off, and w/ 1/4 tank it weighs about 3200 lbs

hatchback lx'sare about 75-100 more i think, but GT's are about 150 more for sure, and my phat-a$$ lx 'vert w/ an aod weighed over 3600 lbs

My '84 H/B is 2840#'s with my self on board (180#).
I did the whole wieght reduction thing on mine with the exception of the glass/lexan hatch.
It runs a carbed 306/C-4/8.8......

yea if its a hatch make it a fiberglass one, with the lexan window like was said, taske out the back seats...ditch the spare tire jacks and all that crap, take out you rpass seat, and cheange over your bumpers and hood to lighter pices, and deff get a c4 not a c6

you guys are getting way ahead....

my old hatch weighed 3500lbs fully loaded (LX 5.0)

when i got done.. it weighed 3023lbs exactly

heres what i removed:
- hatch carpet and insulation under carpet
- spare tire / jack
- hatch interior panels (i kept the quarters)
- backseats completely removed
- removed insulation under rear seats
- removed passanger seat
- very minimal amount of gas

the weight reduction was a factor in my accident though. the rear was very light and spun around at the least expected moments...

How much do the hatches even weigh? the only thing I would be worryed about would be making the rear too light

Exactly what I was gonna get to. The heavy a$$ hatch does providealotstability.Get yourslef the tube kmember and A arms up front. Pull your interior and scrape out all of the factory sound deadener that is glued to the floor. And I am not talking about the stuff on the carpet. I would be surprised if my car weighed 2800 as it sits right now. But mine is stripped complelty. I have no dash. Just some seats, all the wiring and the heater box still remains in my interior but I am also fixing the rusted floorpan and putting it back together.
