Default about to order 331 need a little advice on top end?

ok well im about to order a 331 shortblock from CHP. but my question is im stuck on picking a cam and head. do u think trickflow or edelbrock heads are sufficient enough for a 331. and cam and good suggestion. trick floe stage 2, afm, f303, lunati?

if your gonna use a ots cam and not a custom cam then scratch the f-cam...trick flow stage 2 would be okay and the comp xe series cam deserve a look to...I've also seen some people with the xfi stroker cams make some decent pulls on the dyno..as for heads I'd at least get a 185 head or 195 head..like afr or canfield..or a good sized trick flow will work

yep, custom cam would be best and be good for extra 20+rwhp
CompCams 236HR-14 "XFI stroker cam" is nice OTS street cam

AFR 185, Canfield 192's, TW Track Heat, would all be pretty good.

Make sure your valve springs match your cam

Go 347, with Trick Flow or Canfield and a custom cam. And if you get your heads and cam from the custom cam grinder the valve train should already be correct for the cam specs.

What's your budget?

For the same money as a CHP 331 and OTS cam, you can get a 347 from fordstrokers.com and a custom cam. Much better bang for the buck IMO.

I recommend fordstrokers as well. Great customer service and tech advice.

ya the rod to stroke ratio is better on a 331, less piston sideloading and less prone to burn oil like the 347's
