Dont you have to get different headers to go with the P heads? But if you get the regular GT40 heads, you can use the headers made for stock heads?I'm not sure if thats wat it is, but i know somethins different

12 flat ??? assuming he is using the nitrous. cause all that stock stuff with just p heads and manifold wont get you anywhere near a 12.9. if he isnt using nos or some sort of power adder he is bs'ing you.

hey guys i can't beleive how fast guys are going on explorer/mountaineer p heads. ive met a lot of guys on this and other forums who are using these heads on stock 302's and runing in the low 12's. one guy in a notch ran a 12.01 on a stock shortblock with a stock cam and a explorer manifold. anyway im thinking about going this route and i was wondering if anyone had any advice of stories about encounters with these heads.
thanks matt

im sorry but its not bs he's run 12.15 at e town in nov 07 with no juice with a great tune and a dialed in susp, just look at the factory stock racers in the nmra those guys are smoking his times. anyone can open a mag and grab a bbk cai and some accel plug wires but if you look in the pits see what these guys are using because they are using fast's parts combo,s out they run heads up so they need any edge they can get. if you really research your setup and see what really works well you can go really fast with near stock stuff, also a good chassis/ susp setup that is dialed in right goes a long long way.

i really don't know if you are refering to the pre 97 1/2 explorer head than no they are not as good, but if your refering to the al gt40s i would just go with another alum head personally the greatest part of these p heads are the bang for the low buck. you can put moor money into susp and a good tune if you can afford all this and a high $ stroker of course go for it. im just promoting a great way to go fast on stock stuff (wich is getting rarer) for pennies. just think how it would work with a little juice.... sounds like a recipe for cheap high 11's.
