Feedback anyone~ 5.0 needs a knock sensor?
So i have an 88 gt with many mods, I want to install a knock sensor. I have a Paxton makin 8 psi, also installing water methonal injection. To properly tune the car i need to find out when it detonating and adjust timing according to it. So my questions is what knock sensor have you guys used and were did you mount it? Any info would be appreciated!

i doubt you'll even get an answer
but my suggestion is power tune it
read the plugs and go to the track....start of at 8* and run it...bump to 10* and run it...if mph goes up...it likes the timing, bump to 12* same thing.....mph goes up it's good...when mph drops from the last pass...go to where it was highest thats your optimum timing on the fuel your using

the 5.0 in those years was never equipped with one... your best off taking it to get it dyno tuned... but there is a threaded portion on the block for one.. I just installed a roller motor in a 92 van and on the very back of the block if yours is equipped with threaded portion on the top ledge behind the intake to the right is the spot where the e-150 van I did had one mounted

i see your advice on a power tune. But for the proper setup of the Methonal injestion is tricky cuz with an octane of 93 and under boost computer retards timing, but when you add methanol when under boost it kicks octane up 10-20 points depending on the mixture. So you wouldnt need to take away as much timing. With a knock sensor I can keep adding timing just before predentonation.
i will check the back of my block back right....driver side right?
thanks~

the stock ecm will not retard timing under boost..only if you have a chip burned to tell it to do such..... sn-95 mustangs however the ecm had capability to retard timing between shifts......unless of course you have a btm ignition set up which allows you to manually retard timing via a control switch

i have and diablo motorsport chip burnt already and installed, i did have a msd btm hooked to my 6al msd ignition, but the chip took care of that. i put a 90mm maf from ford lightning and had the data tranfer logged to the chip, i was told by the speed shop that this chip is a guess just to get car to the dyno for final tune. but i wanted to get everything set up as far as the methonal injection. I never dyno'd a car....do they have ways to detect knock?? i want timing as advanced as i can get
