Default speedo is 10mph+ off after changing speedo gear

New problems everyday it seems.....yesterdayi changed the speedo gear, threw in a 20 tooth black speedo gear from mustangs unlimited. the car is an 89 convertible 5.0 5spd with 3.55s, i figured changin the speedo gear from the im guessing stock 16 tooth gear to the 20 tooth would fix my 10mph gap but it still hasnt. Anyone got any ideas, possible solutions? thanks

i used a white 23 tooth speedo gear for my 3.55s... not sure why you used a black 20 tooth.

Somewhere in one of the tech articles on here there is a chart with speedo gears on it.

black actually is correct for a fox if using factory tire and rim suze...remember using aftermarket wheels and tires all affect proper speedo reading .using a 21 tooth ot 23 tooth may correct it..if not then the drive gear on the end of the output shaft must be changed to correct one if all else fails...i feel like I'm doing good if it's within 5 mph

because the 89 T5 used a 7 tooth drive gear, not a 8 tooth like the 90-95

In regards to onyx, I used the black one because in the tech articles I found that the 89 with 3:55's proper gear was the black 20 tooth, 50resto and mustangs unlimited have both listed as such. Also, currently I'm rockin my 17inch stock 95 GT wheels, but I plan on switching my to my saleen 18inchers when it gets a little warmer. So the 21 or 23 might be a better option with the 18s on? If I could get it within 5mph I would be more than happy, before this I didnt even have a speedo, the cable was melted and I just got around to changin it and disappointingly enough its not even rightt!!
