Default Distrib help

hey everyone i just recently put a new manifold on the mustang and i went to put the distribtor back in and i cant get it to mate up with the oil shaft that goes down to the pump. its a new shaft to i replaced when i did my motor like a year ago.i dont recall haveing this big of a problem with it when i did my motor ither everything down in there is linend up. is there something i forgot to do anytip that anyone can spare would save me hours of frustration...

use a socket and extension and rotate the oil pump shaft make sure to tape the extension and socket together though so it doesnt fall in the engine i believe its 5/16
