Can you use the 5.0 Explorer intake manifold for hp?
if i remember right, i was told a while ago that you can put the stock intake manifold from a 5.0L Ford Explorer on a 5.0L Mustang GT and get more hp. Is this true?? if it is... anything i should know before i start? how much of a gain? thx

This manifold is excellent from idle to 5200 rpms, where most of us see. After 5,200rpms, its falls flat on its face. Midrange, it killed all aftermarket manifolds.
The holes, interior dimensions, and channel locations are unique.
Notice how the channels are molded in an offset pattern, to reduce heat between each runner, instead of running them all together.
With a HCI, this intake and a bigger TB, has been known to add 35-40 Horsepower compared to a stock intake manifold and Throttle Body.
I would reccomend using the explorer's injectors for more power, you will need the pig tails for them too.
One area of interest, is the lower manifold triangular ports, not port matched to aftermarket or perfromance heads, they are narrow like the old 302's intake.
The should be PORT MATCHED .
The second and third suprise will be to clamping and sealing off vacum ports on the underside of the upper, and having the lower tapped for the Intake Air Temperature Sensor.

Think about getting heads also, combined with the intake you will make some nice gains, I know I did picked up some decent power.

That is a possibility, I am still enjoying the nice power gain for now so when that wears off I might just have to throw one in. On a side notewhere I live daily drivabilityis very important and full throttle blasts aren't very common so I'll take the torque vs all out top end power for now.
