m/t et or m/t et street radial? what is best option
Hey guys, I am in the middle of doing suspenion work as long as building my rear end.I went to 5 lug axles so i have to get new rims and since I am going for a drag oreinted set up soI am going with 15x8's in the rear and skinny up front. MY question is according to MuscleMustangs&FastFords you can fit a 275/60/15 in the rear with a stock wheel tub.First off is this true? Second iswhich tire is better for the drag strip, amicky tompson et street slick or a micky tompson et street radial. I know the slick will hook better but is there really a big difference in traction. Also it is a stick car with 452 rwhp and 454tq if that makes a difference in any way? Any help will be great?

Yes they will fit. On some stangs you might have to pound out the inner fender a bit. As for times, your running low 11's correct? the slicks will hook better always but it wont be much of a difference since the m/t radials are such a good tire.

yes low 11's is correct. ok i wanted to make sure on the fit and also i kind of want to go with m/t drag radials because i drive the car every day during the spring summer and fall, and slicks wont' do too good in the rain, at least dr's will have a little traction.

well you stated 2 different cheater slicks.....1 is radial 1 is bias ply
if you want optimal drag strip w/ street use out of the question...you want et drags
if you want a cheater slick best for the dragstrip.....pick either depending on your location or preferance
they both hook about the same, i actually got better 60's from my radials on my current car than the bias-ply on my '89, but i also have hpm's as opposed to southsides
the radials are better in the rain , and actually not bad at all.....until you do break them loose then they are as bad as the bias-ply
i suppose it depends on your front tire.......if you run 165r15 radial skinnys use the radial et street, if it's a mickey front runner use the bias-ply
the only setup that ever really scared me was bias ply slick, radial skinny, in bad grroves on the e-way, and hard rain w/ no sway bars....had to get off and was reduced to 45 all the way home from chicago on surface streets
plus 1 other time on the street w/ hard rain i tried to gun it.......ended up doing a 720*

With that much power and a stick shift my question would be do you power shift? My definition ofpower shifting being you do not let off the gas but you stomp the clutch pedal during gear changes. I have and use both types of tires, ET Streets(26x10.5)and ET Street Radials (275-50/15). As far as best 60' times there is no difference, but the ET Streets are more predictable, they hook the same everytime. The drag radials are a little touchy, conditions have to be good and if the track goes away you will spin leaving and on the 1-2 shift (if you power shift). If the track goes away with the ET Streets the 60' times don't suffer as bad if any. Now if you don't power shift the drag radials should do just fine.
