Default cats or no cats

well its no cats either way, but my h-pipe has dual cats, hollow them or get one without. in NY, not worried about emissions, but the car came with an aftermarket H pipe with dual cats, one side all the material was broken inside the cat.

+1. the one without cats should flow better because the inner pipe will be smooth but not enough to notice.

only thing ive ever had a problem with in ny is the loudness of the exhaust, but my 85 wont have to be hooked up to a computer, so i dont think ill have to pass any other tests.

I have not been in NY for almost 10 years, but back in the day...to get the Inspection Sticker, they do a visual inspection (especially with Mustangs) of the cats, and then hook a tube up in the exhaust to measure the emmissions...

The No-Cats may pass the emmisions test, but you will definitely fail the visual. That is why most people just hollow out the cats......

youre right NY inspection is very visual, but i know someone as far as that goes.

i wonder if cops will ever come to the point of visually looking for cats, wouldnt be hard, and would be pretty hard to fight

trust me if it got to that point I'd move to the north pole!! cause there are plenty of more pressing issues in this country for cops to go do than waste our tax dollars writing people up for no cats

In NYS on '95 and older cars the cats just have to be visual, they do not have to be functioning properly to pass inspection.
