4 lug 10.5 inch wheels on 1989 5.0 moving axle dampers???
I recently found 4 lug 10.5 inch Cobra R wheels onlineand want to get them on my 5.0 very badly. I went under my car to realize that already having 17x 9 inch wheels the tires were a little bit more than a 1/4 inch from hitting the axle dampers, I did that math with all the backspacing being different and figured out if I had an extra .65-.85 inches of extra room the 10.5 would fit, also while rolling up the fender walls and maybe adding a 1/4 inch spacer. My question is to anyone, is it possible to reposition the rear axle dampers to get those big 10.5 inchers to fit. And also if anyone has done this, what did you do and how much did it end up costing to get them to fit.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

What do you mean by agressive modifications? Im pretty sure the axle dampers and the underwall of the fender is the only thing stopping them from fitting, inless im mistaken please let me know what else would cause them not to fit.

They are a little wide meaning you might hit your inner fender well....you might have to beat those in. Your fender lip will definitly need to be rolled unless you put a lift in the rear. It can be done, but it will have it's challenges. 9" wide rim is about the max without modification

i was just lookin at them! 9" on the front and 10.5s out back with tires like 700 bucks is pretty cheap but i was wondering the same thing, will they actually fit? would look awesome with that much meat out back. if you get em let us know what you had to do if anything to get them to fit.

you are better off just getting 17x9 al the way around.
even if you do get 10.5's in the back, you will find that you cant corner very fast without them rubbing, and your traction will actually decrease.... mine did

I already have the 17 x 9's all the way around but I have always wanted the 10.5's and finally found the 4 lug. Has anyone ever put 10.5's on a 5.0?? cause im curious how much work it is. I really want to do this but dont want to waste a bunch of money, I went under my car the other day and saw that the inside fender would def. have to be beaten in or cut out. Im wondering if I can alter the inside fender myself?? I have done so much work to my car i dont know if i can handle another big job..haha
