Default TICK TICK TICK TICK HELP!!!

I have a 91 lx with a 5.0 bored .30 over with an over size cam. less than 10,000 on the engine allright so i changed out the oil/filter, installed collectors (it had none), replaced all exhaust gaskets, and tightened all bolts, my car sounds ALOT different which makes since, HOWEVER the ticking is still there like a tick tick tick and it gets faster as i rev the engine, not to sure if i would say louder but maybe a little, ARGHHHHHHHH im worried it might be something bad......also there was no metal in the oil i cut the filter in half....!THANKS EVERY1

Could be a just a loose rocker or could be a lifter problem. Put your ear to the valve cover on each side. You should be able to tell what side is ticking.

If you are sure the headers are tight and not leaking then see if you can locate which side it is coming from.(if the headers are leaking you might be able to see black marks on the header gaskets)

Most likely a loose rocker arm..if you locate the side...pull the valve cover and see if any rockers are loose(have someone do it if you dont know how to adjust it)

i have a ticking noise
i put in copper header gaskets
and it's still there
oh well, sounds like a dragster [8D]
but i'd say it was the headers
if not then the rockers

well i noticed that when i looked in the engine while it was running there was no oil !!!! im guessing maybe the oil pump but where is it...and would that cause the rockers to tap i felt in there and could wiggle the two i could touch....what do i torque the rockers down to? so her eis my theory before the noise started i put some thick *** oil in it and some stp the checker guy said too for the hell of it......i feel that some how the oil pump got clogged and stopped the flow to the engine that caused the rockers to come loose.....or is that just my crazy mind coming up with stories?????

Buy a chiltons or haynes manual to help with the torque #'s. Your oil pump is under the oil pan on the bottom of your engine. Sounds like rockers loose, or lifters to me. Is it loud?

Did you check the pushrods and make sure that none of them are bent?

no i havent taken the engine apart yet........if the push rods are bent would that stop oil from getting to the heads and rockers? because there is none there ......would they make the noise?? it is a tick tick tick (maybe a tap) faster when engine is revved ..it idles perfect starts right up and has no loss of power the one time i drove it (about a mile from blockbuster home, that was when the noise started) how intense of a fix are the push rods
