how far can you follow your power wires? asuming your problem is near the battery, on a non fused area, id maybe check between your battery and alternator and see if you have a short there, maybe unhook the power wire at the alt.

check for a short but more importantly with the pos cable on and ammeter connected in series on neg cable ..what is your reading...do you know what acceptable spec is?? it's 25 to 50 milliamps..you need a digital multimeter to run the test set to amps function

Trace you positive wire...your altenator could be shorted also. Unhook the altenator as said earlier and then try to start it up...if it starts, check your altenator wires, if they are good take your altenator to autozone and get it checked.
