Default first car

i am looking for a first car and i defenitly want a mustang years prefrebly 88 to 96 gt and i found this

"I have a 1990 mustang lx, 5.0 5spd. car has 143k on it clean MA title. needs some work car is not running right now. Has no a/c no smog. hurst short throw shifter, brand new king cobra clutch, flywheel, rearmain seal, fuel pump, offroad x pipe w/ flowmaster catback.ran great before it died one day no leaks i just dont have the time or money for it anymore.car has stock 10 holes on it right now but i got a set of pony wheels ill throw in with the car. car needs some body work an paint. The car has the most rust on the hatch but for an extra 100$ i can get a real nice one from my friend to give you. I'm pretty much giving it away because i got almost the asking price in reciepts. no time 1,200 cash this week takes it. oh yeah the car is blue and has a stormin normin hood on it. will send pics to those that are interested. Thanks"

it seems like a good deal to me but i thought id ask and see if anyone agreed or knows anyone in mass that is selling a 88-96 gt

THANKS

save $1500 and buy a clean car...you won't regret it

if you go '89+ you'll have mass air, not a big deal to me...but bi gto some

my personal experience....'89 have most hp...i've owned 6 of 'em

no reason to accept rust.......

For your first car I wouldn't do it. Not knnocking you but you don't have the experience yet to take on something like this. Spend another $1K and you can get a fairly clean '89 and won't have to worry about spending money on fixing major issues. Unless you are extremely mechanically inclined and have the time, money, space and patience to do all the work to get that car back up it's not worth it. $1,200 seems a little high for a roller too, especially one with rust. Rust is a major problem and can cause major nightmares. There's always guys up in your area selling fox's for a good price, look around a little longer and don't rush into a sale just because you want a mustang.

No problem, FWIW I found my '89 for $1,500, motor is great, with 3.73's, exhaust, with a straight body and no rust. It needs a little TLC interior wise and a paint job but I have the time for it and have been restoring and building cars for years. I've had many Mustangs and other vehicles and I don't need to rely on this one to get me places.

Autotrader is always a good source and so are the forums. The classifieds here are good, Corral, Stangnet are a few good ones as well. Sometimes you will just find something even if you aren't looking for it. I just checked Autotrader real quick and there's a pretty nice 5.0 LX for $3,000 w/ some upgrades in Boston. I don't know how far you are from there but I'm sure you could talk that price down.
