lol, not likely. you said there is a broken vacuum line.....did you fix that? a major vacuum leak will cause problems. the thing you are talking about sounds like the purge solenoid for you rEVAP system. This normally collects fumes from the gas tank, and then sucks them up into the engine periofically. Make sure there is ABSOLUTELY NO liquid gas in that canister, if there is, then something is messed up and you are leaking gas from places gas shouldn't be leaking. I'm getting 21mpg with a 5speed, no EGR, no EVAP.

21 MPG.... I wish. I am no where near that. I am excited if I hit 16... normally around 14 and thats all city driving.

ORIGINAL: FASTBLACK

You need to fill up your car and set your trip odom. Next time you fill up see how many gallons it holds and divide that into your mileage.
Excellent advice. Seriously, it's amazing how many people fail to realize mileage threads mean nothing without this information.

You can even figure this out without a gas gauge.

To carry it a step further you can first confirm your odometer is reading accurately. Compare it to mile markers OR drive with a GPS reading distance.

5L mileage in the city should be in the teens. Straight highway will be about 20.

I was getting 21 22 highway on mine and like 12-14 city. It wasn't too bad. But I would just check those vacuum line and clean the mass air and throttle bodies see if the air filter is clean also i know its weird but we get this at my job check the tire pressure lol i know its weird but just check it anyway if it ain't set right you wont get good gas mileage and it will help allot some times. You could have a clogged cat on the car as well. Sea foam works pretty good try running that through the car i prefer the carbon clean machines at my shop i work at but most likely you wont have one in your garage. lol
