Clutch Question!!!!???
This past weekend me and a couple other guys finished putting in my new 302. Yesterday we started it up and it runs amazing, but one problem i have is that the clutch seems to not be disengaging all the way, and i only have to push the pedal about a inch or two to engage the clutch all the way. When i took it for a test run, it feels like its got good torque until you try to take off and the motor just rev's which must mean the clutch is slipping. What do you guys suggest is the problem? Could if be something with the cable or is it the clutch itself? Im at school right now, but i hope it is something that i could have fixed by this weekend.
Thanks!
Thanks!

RE: Clutch Question!!!!???
Sounds like cable adjustment to me, if you have the adjustable quadrant you can sometimes pull the pedal all the way up to reset the adjustment but more than likely it will be the two bolts on the cable at the transmission.
Did you install a new clutch or is it the original and didYOU set the clutch, pressure plate, and tighten it down to the fly wheel. Not sure if the mustang clutch is the same as the eclipse but, friends can installthe clutch backward..... and it will work.... sort of for a while.....and then when it fails and you pull it off they disappear..... anyway probably just the cable adjustment.

RE: Clutch Question!!!!???
you need to do that to your '89 yes
but it's better if you dump that plastic stock garbage...it will break (it is almost 20 years old) and put an aluminum quadrant in there. it should engage about 1-1 1/2" off the floor
