RE: What Intake To Get???
Keep in mind that your 86 GT is speed density, and most cold air intakes you find are for MAF.
What I did on my 86, I bought a cheapie from ebay, bought a 3" hump hose, and used a section of 3" tube I had laying around to put mine all together.
In this picture, I used a piece of aluminum tube I had from a previous project which was a bit short. I had a section of black exhaust tubing that I used, cut it to length, and it fit much better.

I got a Mac CAI, I just cleaned filter last night...kinda was a pain[:@], but will be easier next time. Almost wish i went short ram instead. Speed density intakes look better b/c there not break in the middle of the tube for the MAF sensor. I would go BBK or Mac.

pretty much all cai's are the same you are just paying for the name. i bought a upr off ebay and it works great. the only difference is i believe the k&n's are plastic tubing not metal.

I just went through this with my 86, I'm not sure if you can get a CAI from K&N specific for the 86. the only kit I found through them wasnt a fender mount. I ended up keeping my stock intake and put a K&N filter in the airbox.
