what's wrong with stock heads!? lol I run 12's with stock heads (no that's not with nitrous) I noticed a little bit, but i changed the tb & intake at the same time. Like said though dont expect a HUGE gain with just the intake.

No power adder. But you didn't say you couldn't run ported stock heads... Dremel ported none the less. explorer intake, 1" spacer, x303, 65mm tb, 70mm maf, full exhaust (mac & dont make fun, yes it's rusty, but it works) are the only hard parts on the engine. I don't count external things like electric fan or ignition parts as mods. timing was set at 20* with a built c4 (no stall) All the runs were made on pump gas, either 89, 92, or 93 octane. Just a fyi, though it wasn't a low 12, but it doesn't take a low 12 to be able to say you run 12s

Although... the sn95 electric fan should count as a mod in my case since the clutch on the original fan was locked up & wouldn't let me turn over 5200rpm... [&o] (bearings looked like rocks so they wouldn't let it freewheel at higher rpm) So it did free up a bit of power aswell, but you all shouldn't have that problem like I did. Power gain probably would be minimum, maybe 5-10hp

I will say this though, I could not have ran that with the stock timing. Its a night & day difference in power. When I had the stock cam in it, it didn't like anything over 14. This one seems like it wants all i can give it. It will knock any over 20* with 92 octane. I have it turned to 18* right now so I can run 89 octane.

Tires were 245/50/16's

I don't have my 1/4th anymore, that was 2 years ago. I have some wrinkled 1/8 ones though from last year

I've only been to a 1/4th track once, the closest one is about 60 miles away, i have a 1/8th about 15 miles away.

The best 1/8th et was an 8.14 @ 86.62 with a 2.02 60' (i know i suck at taking off)

oh... not sure weight, spare tire removed, a/c deleted (for the most part), smog deleted, & some sound dampening material removed (not all). I did have some antifreeze in the back though weighing me down (pinhole leak in radiator still to this day )

Wow, that is very impressive on stock heads and something amny others can learn from if they want good times without spending large amounts of money... If you don't mind me asking what was the DA of the track you ran at. That also plays a huge factor in N/A motors, and what kind of tires(DR's or streets?) and what rear are you using. I would see it as feasible with 4.10's or lower, maybe even 4.33's.

of course it would be better with a set of nice heads but, i see nothin really wrong with stock heads either.i never trackedmy 86for an exact ET but i've pulled on some nice cars. i hadhalf a caron a srt-8 jeep all 3-3rd gear pulls. since my 2nd gear syncro was shot. and i know those are fast. anyway i had 302 bored to 306, CAI, 65mm TB, tubular gt-40 upper and lower, 24lb injectors, fuel rail, f-303 cam,1.6RR, bigger springs, hardened pushrods, ported+polished, out to shorties anda catted H-pipe with flowmasters. i was happy with it. my seat bracket tab cracked from pulls also haha.

i would say yeah buy the intake. cant beat it at that price. it only takes like an hour if thatto putupper and loweron, so might as well have it on there till you get new heads. looks mad nice too. it cant hurt.

tires were street tires; 245/50/16 (which tread was practically gone on), gears were richmond 4.10s. I dont have the gears anymore. I swapped back to my 2.73s & a used T5 for some fuel economy. I still have the c4 for if i want to put it back in sometime, but I sold the 4.10's to a friend. Personally I'm not much for the dragstrip anymore, I guess i just got burnt out going there all the time. About 5 years ago i was there every weekend, now i only go about once a year.

& trust me i would never say the stock heads are good compared to aftermarket, but most of my cars are built with the same thing in mind, cheap power & to show some people what can be done without spending multiple thousands. I built my 2.3 turbo notch for less than $800 to race someone that spent $13000 on a car because he wanted a fast car just to show you what i mean. [8D]

I believe I have found some used gt40 heads for $300.Is it worth getting them ported? I have no idea what porting costs.
