Default What are these holeS??????

Hey k i think i figured out my water leak problem, on top of the timing cover theres a small threaded hole for a bolt??? but it doesnt thread into the block so does anyone no what goes in these holes, because i think it will be hard to put a bolt head in there?

If you mean thetwo on the back of the timing cover, then those should be open. Ford used the same timing cover for several cars, and some 80's cars had some extra water pump bolts that would thread into them, others didn't use them. If the proper water pump and gasket are used (and installed right) there shouldn't be any leaks from the open holes.

ya CEALNFIFTY i think you knwo which ones im talking about, on mine ther not used at all, but when water was leaking there was a pttle on top of the holes and there was bubbles coming out so im pretty sure thats were it was leaking from,but i could be wrong, ever heard of this?

k should i use RTV sealant on the waterpump and timing cover surfaceS??? i can decide lol

if that is in fact where the leak is.. you'll need to remove water pump and backing plate on pump and reseal with new gasket on backing plate applying a little rtv to gasket and install a new water pump gasket to timing cover with a little rtv applied to and reinstall all bolts and the ones you are missing

ok thats what im doing so far but im not missing those bolts i just filled them sith silicone im hoping that helps, considering they shouldnt leak, Also so just to make sure should i use RTV sealnt on the watermump plate? ive read a few diff things

you go to the parts store and get the two gaskets needed and with the gaskets I always apply a thin layer of silicon on top of them
