Default Shift kits?

Hey guys ive been thinking of getting another aod sometime in the future, and ive been reading threads on shift kits. Im thinking of maybe a transgo stage 2 kit. I know shift kits give you a stronger shift and u can hold the gear to ur desired rpm's. But my question is do they actually help in performance? Say on a mosty stock fox, willwill throwing inashift kit take any .10's off of ur et?

shift kits give quick clean shifts = no slide/slippage into gear.....and shift kits do not allow you to hold engine at a desired rpm to launch...that would be the stall convertor/torque convertor

A shift kit "should" knock some time off of your 1/4 mile et's. How much depends on what condition the transmission was in before you install the kit. A shift kit alone will not allow you to hold your shifts in an AOD. A couple of ways to do this:
Purchasean aftermarket manual/automatic valve body, or perform the "epoxy mod" to your existing valve body yourself (less than $40 including a new pan gasket and new fluid)

I just bought the trango hp shift kit for my aod. not installed yet. does it change the way you shift? is your shift pattern different? does it hold a gear at any rpm? when racing what is the best shift pattern? also is it hard to install, mine is on the way and i havent looked at instructions yet. thx for any info!
