RE: blew out my rear main seal
Not sure from the tone if your joking or venting your frustration but I did read the post and knew something was burning on the exhaust, wasn't trying to pin point where the smoke was coming from.... just what was burning...... more surprised that mercury tech would drive with the vibration so long but that's another discussion. By the way just to mention it even though it doesn't have any impact, I have had techs install washers to fitincorrect u-joints.... so take it how you will just trying to give some advice \ feedback..........Either way good luck with your car sure you will find the problem.

the u-joints fit perfectly there probably wouldnt even be any room for washers if i tried. as for driving with the vibration yeah i know it was stupid but i had to get home it was an emergency and nothing was gunna stop me. for now all i can do is turn my drive shaft and see if that works as for the oil ill just keep checking it everytime i go to fill up on gas
302army- the drive shaft is ballanced like the flywheel or hermonic balancer, if you put it on 180* out it will create a vibration. thats why on your flywheel you have one bolt thats off just a little so you can only put the fly wheel on one way and the balancer has that little slit cut into it so you can only put that on one way

oh, i see.
good luck with it man.
i had all kinds of vibration, after blowing my rear seal on the tranny, turned out to be a busted frount u-joint, seal, and the rear tail bushing!
no more vibration or leaking so far!

i have a new trany mount and transmission so its not either of them. its a good possibility that the drive shaft is out or that my diff is finally ready to go.
