Bob i respect your opinion most of the time but when it comes to gears you are way too biased. 4.10s are definitely not the only gear worth doing
thats fine...just my opinion , and i respect yours

have you ever ridden i a non-gt40 5.0 ?

w/ 3.73.........it still bogs on cheater slix, won't lift the tires w/out 400 hp.....i'm sure the extra 40 or so helps that a lot w/ your setup and makes abig diff .......i have owned 2 cars w/ 3.73, 2 cars w/ 4.10, and 1 was just stock

and i have come to this conclusion......if your interested in drag racing...go 4.10

if your interested in road racing....get a blower and go 3.27

if your worried about losing 2 mpg....sell it for a honda civic

w/ your 3.55's you tach 500 rpms lower than me...thats it, your not comparinga cobra to a cobra....just not the same thing, and i stick w/ my opinions based on a couple of years in this game

Yeah I totally see what you're saying and you've been around the block a few times but in my mind gearing shouldn't be a substitute to making crap power. I think my 3.55s and KB will be a lot better for drag racing than a non GT40 5.0 with 4.10s, but I'll have to wait to be able to say for sure. I've driven GT 5.0s before but when I got my car I wasn't as into drag racing as I am now so i didn't pay much attention to that.

We must think differently about RPMs too, to me 500rpm more or less is a lot. I did drive my friend's '03 GT with 4.10 gears and it was very fun, but it felt like it ran out of gear too quickly and I didn't want something that extreme for my car, especially with a KB in the future plans.

you should def go with 3.73's i whoop alot of peeps with my stock-ish setup and the only reason is cause of my gear, i looooooooove my 3.73's i went aboot 110 miles on a short trip through texas where i live and got like 20ish mpg going like 2200-2500 the whole way and got a lt1 in half on the freeway. i take down alot of cars just cuz of the holeshot factor

thanks for the reply's.. i think im gonna go with the 373's, i dont do much highway driving anyways, maybe a couple times amonth to my buddys house 70 miles away, i shouldnt have to worry about tacking at high rpm's at 65-75mph, my average cruise rpm's on the high way is 2,000-2,200 (5 speed).

i would like to see her in the 12's in the future, i just need to get my things straight first, and need to save up alot of $$$$$. im going with the trickflow top end kit with the track heat intake, and with all suporting mods, i should have no problem getting there. and from then im sure i want to go faster. low 14's is getting old quick lol.

im prolly going with the 3.73's , and still want to do 140+ mph every once and awhile to open her up. but after about 100mph i start to get a nasty vibration on the shifter and it feels like its going through the whole car, im not trusting that
Hmmm...Oddly enough, my Fox just started doing that. WTF is it?

My 91 has 3.73 and my wife's 93 has 4.10, both w/AOD. Hers seems like kind of a dog (need to go through it and figure out what the previous owner messed up), cause mine will smoke hers (seems like I got lucky with a real good AOD). If you have a good strong motor, not some 190k smoke generator I would say go with the 4.10s, but if you want to keep top speed and worry about valvetrain stability at high rpm then stick with 3.55s.
