So what!? What does a 331 have to do with a driver? Don't say it's is because of the rod ratio or the 347 has problems smoking. These false theories have been beaten to death, and you need to do some reading. To loosely quote Jay Allen (Camshaft Innovations)There are2 reason to run a 331 instead of a 347: 1) class racingdisplacement limit. 2) you want to make less power.

Be careful with some of the suggestions.

A 347 is only as good as the builder. Just because you throw a 3.4" stroke, 5.315" rod, and a 1.175" CH piston, does not mean you will not have problems.

The builder is going to be key here.

A 3.4" stroke, 5.400" rod, and a 1.090" CH piston could still burn oil or live a shorter life, but this is where a good builder can take care of these problems.

The 347 can still "smoke" or last "5,000 miles", but if you get a good builder, you will take care of these problems!

The top-end suggestions already are good.

However, I will give my suggestion as well to give you more options.

Brian @ www.adperformance.com or Rick @ www.rnherformance.comfor the engine build.

Ed Curtis @ www.flowtechinduction.com for the top-end pieces, like heads, camshaft, intake, gaskets, MAF, TB, etc.

Good Luck. You will be happy either way you go!

This is true with any engine build, not just the 347. All the right parts in the wrong uneducated hands will be anchor.

i built a moderate CR 331, should have went 347, still working the bugs out on mine, and i should have gotten larger heads and a custom cam, hell it aint but like 50-75 more $, why not!

i got the rpm heads and a xe270hr-114 cam...pulls great to 6k, 3k is where you really start to feel it, but since something is wrong somewhere lol its not reving as fast as it should esp. on the low end.
