Default HUGE PROBLEM

for starters its electrical

its a 1987 gt manaul trans

Iwas wiring up my autometer tach, andI wire the power, coil wire, and battery return wires up fine. Car runs perfectly fine at this point. I wire the ilumination wire up to a switch under my dash that the previous owner wire up to turn my fog lights on and off.I was putting the switch back and the hot wire leading into it hit metal and fried, smoke everywhere.[sm=badidea.gif]ThenI tried to to start the car, the key turns the chimes come on but no check engine light or any other warning lights, starter doesn't turn, I cant hear the fuel pump going, andblower motor doesnt work either. All theese are controled off the ignition switch, It may have to do with the power to the ignition.
I spent tonight with a test light and a wiring diagram from haynes trying to diagnois the problem, as of now Ive only cuncluded that Im royaly screwed and the guy i bought this car from was a really shady tree mechanic im probly going to have to rewire this whole car.

If anyone has any ideas on whats causing this please share, Im up ****s creek with out a paddle. [sm=headbang.gif]

Replace the hot wire and the source of its power.

Check the fusible links , for full or partially no voltage AFTER THE LINK

you wont have to rewire the whole car only a few things could have happend.first off check your fuses secondfind out which wire your fog lights were patched into. once you find which wire it is trace that wire both ways to see what fuse, relay, or breaker it is on. third take that wire for your fog lights/illumination light off what ever ignition wire its on or put a fuse between them and the ignition wire its on so this doesnt happen again.

check your fuse box and see what fuses are powerless.... that should be powered in the koeo mode and then from there get a wiring diagram and see what possible fusible link may have blown

this is exactly when anytime you mess with wiring the first instruction is usually, or at least it should be. "disconnect battery" im really **** about doing that and it really saves a lot of headaches.
