car wont start

Default car wont start

i have a 1986 mustang 5.0 and when i try t start the car sometimes the starter will make the vrooom noise and wont start but when i put my foot on the gas padel a little and try to start it it will sometimes i can hear the fuel pump prime i hear the noise i know the starter is good, i know the battery is good could it be the ignition module

so it'll crank but won't start?? right?? check fuel pressure and check for spark

..that's not the issue he is describing although it sounds that way..his choice of terminology may lead you to make such an inference but upon carful reading of it twice you can understang it cranks and starter is crabbing just won't fire up

Vroom Vroom, haha I've never heard someone use that before. Sorry, but yeah check your FP, sounds like you have too much fuel if you have to mash the gas pedal to start it. Check spark and also see if you have a dirty air filter(lack of air flow).

my car still wont start i know the battery is good the ignition module is good the starter is good and the starter relay i guess the part on the drivers side fender is good i dont know what else it could be

Just because a pump makes noise you cant rule it out, need a fuel pressure gauge to verify also need to check the spark.

Though in a pinch the pressure check valve on the fuel rail is usually just a shrader valve so if you have an old tire gauge that you trust lying around you could get a good idea what kind of pressure you have just by using it in the same way you would use it on a tire(after priming the pump that is).
