bleeding brakes...
so i have a 93 gt with a lincoln rear, cobra master cylinder and willwood proportioning valve. Out of the blue today I decided to paint all my calipers red...dont ask...it looks sweet by the way
Anyway, I've been bleeding the brakes for hours upon hours now and I can't seem to rid the front brakes of air. I followed all the guidelines in my chiltons, and everything seems ok until i turn my car on. As soon as I fire her up, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor with ease...and no matter how much I pump them up, it stays the same. it seems like everything is full, but like I said...there is still air in the front brake lines...so should I just keep working on it? or is there a faster way of finding the root to my problem...?
Also note that nothing was wrong prior to me taking everything apart.
Thanks again people
-Mike

If you are dong it by yourself you will need to invest in something like this:
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...mp;cm_ite=tire
Available at most part stores and tool shops, well worth the cost for the time saved.

RE: bleeding brakes...
sorry i took so long to reply guys. I do have a buddy that has been helping me with the whole thing. I just wanted to know how I know if there is no more air in the line. It seems that when my buddy depresses the brake to the floor, the front brakes seem to spurt and bubble a lot when the fluid comes out, as opposed to the rears which just squirt out a nice unbroken stream of fluid. Am I supposed to keep bleeding until the fronts do that? This is getting very messy! lol..
thanks again

RE: bleeding brakes...
Yes, no air in the lines, is your helper keeping steady pressure on the pedal as you open and close the valve, when you openit the pedal will drop a little and pressure need to be maintained until no more fluid comes out and you close the line. Also don't open the valve all the way just enough to allow fluid out all the while the brake should be down until you close it. Usually doesn't take more than a hour.
Messy... use rubber hosing over the nipple of the valve and the other end in a clear bottle...
I would get the tool anyway it helps with the mess if you are not using a tube to catch the excess.
EDIT: You are keeping the reservoir more than half full, like adding fluid every 3rd or 4th pump?

RE: bleeding brakes...
U have to start at the tire farthest away from the master so passenger rear and then driver rear then passenger front and driver front. Thats the order. Now have your buddy pump up the brakes like 6 times and then hold it then u undo the bleeder valve with the brake peddle still held.. when brake fluid stops coming out and then close it then have him pump it up again. Then do this like 6 times per each wheel unless you notice air still coming out. But make sure the master cylinder still have brake fluid in it at all times.
