.060 is considered to be bad, go no more than .040

My 66 is .040 and rns cool all day long...I've seen a few at .060.....I don't like to go that far but they are capable of such with an adequate cooling system

Check bottom of my sig. I have no cooling problems at all. Last time i went to the track i ran 15 times, drove 40 miles there and back. On the way back i did not turn on my fans one time and i stayed between 150-165. I have a northern radiator, dual fans and hi flow pump. The cooling system is insane on that car.

In most cases .060" is fine, but the block should be sonic checked to ensure there is enough material left in cylinder wall.
